About Us
Ballooning in Tuscany is a small and professional balloon rides operator based in Montisi found in Southern Tuscany. Since English balloonist Robert Etherington started the Discovery Club in 1990 and with his wife, artist Liz Graham-Yooll, established ballooning in the area, many hundreds of people from all over the world have experienced the beauty of this landscape from the bird's-eye perspective from a hot air balloon.
Now Ballooning in Tuscany, an Italian registered company, is owned by Kenneth Karlstrom one of the most experienced commercial balloon pilots in the world. Kenneth also owns Airxcite which operates Virgin Balloon Flights in the UK and has a fleet of over 22 large balloons and flies 30,000 people a year in the UK with highly qualified pilots providing impeccable service and safety standards. We retain the same focus on the safety and enjoyment of our passengers in Tuscany, but because we are a small team with smaller balloons we believe we can provide an even more personal and rewarding experience. We fly from an enchanted valley which has become synonymous with our balloon and work with businesses and crew from our local area to provide the best service possible.
Although, Robert and Liz are no longer involved and live mainly in France, they regularly keep in touch and are always keen to ensure we are living up to the exacting standard which they established over the years. We do our best, but we'll let you be the judge!
